Troubleshooting

Upload issues

"Unsupported format"

Check that your file is JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, or BMP. Renaming a file does not change its format. If in doubt, use the image compressor to convert it.

"File is too large"

Background remover: 10 MB max. Browser tools: 25 MB max, but very large images may exceed device memory. Try resizing first with the image resizer.

Drop zone doesn't respond to clicks

Ensure JavaScript is enabled. Try a different browser (Chrome 90+, Safari 14+, Firefox 88+).

Processing issues

Background remover returns error

The API may be temporarily unavailable. Click "Retry". If it persists, try again in a few minutes. Browser-based tools continue to work independently.

Background remover takes too long

Server load can vary. Typical processing is 5–15 seconds. If it takes over 60 seconds, the request will time out — click Retry.

Result looks wrong

AI background removal works best on people, products, and animals. For logos, transparent objects, or complex scenes, try the transparent PNG maker instead, or refine the result manually in a photo editor.

Download issues

Download does not start

Check your browser's download permissions. On iOS, downloaded files save to the Files app (usually "Downloads").

Downloaded file is corrupted

Try re-downloading. If the problem persists, try a different browser.

Image looks different from the preview

Preview is rendered at a smaller size for performance. Download uses full resolution. If the output has artifacts, check that you're using the correct format (PNG preserves transparency; JPG does not).

Performance issues

Tool freezes on large images

Very large images (over 8 megapixels on mobile, 40 on desktop) may exceed available memory. Resize first.

Site loads slowly

First load includes all CSS and JavaScript. Subsequent loads are cached. If it's consistently slow, check your internet connection or try a different network.

Browser compatibility

BG Remove works on:

  • Chrome 90+ (desktop and mobile)
  • Safari 14+ (macOS and iOS)
  • Firefox 88+
  • Edge 90+
  • Opera 76+

Internet Explorer is not supported.
