Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: January 2025

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do when using BG Remove. By using the service, you agree to follow these rules. Violations may result in immediate blocking of your access.

1. Legal use only

You may use BG Remove only for lawful purposes. You must comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction and in the jurisdiction where our servers operate.

2. Intellectual property

You may only upload images you own or have explicit permission to modify. Specifically, you may not:

  • Process stock photos in ways that violate the license under which they were provided
  • Upload copyrighted images to the background remover without the copyright holder's permission
  • Use the site to facilitate copyright infringement

If you are unsure whether you have the right to modify an image, assume you do not and seek permission first.

3. Prohibited content

You may not upload or process content that:

  • Depicts child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this is reported to authorities immediately
  • Depicts non-consensual intimate imagery, or is designed to create it
  • Depicts violence, terrorism, or illegal activity
  • Harasses, threatens, or defames an individual or group
  • Impersonates a person in a deceptive or harmful way
  • Contains malware or exploits
  • Violates any applicable law

4. Abuse of the service

You may not:

  • Attempt to bypass rate limits or authentication
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the service without written permission
  • Overload, DDoS, or otherwise interfere with the service or its infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our AI model or source code
  • Resell access to the service without permission
  • Use the service for mass commercial processing without a proper API arrangement

5. Rate limits

We apply reasonable rate limits to protect the service for all users. If you need higher throughput, please contact us to discuss an API arrangement.

6. Reporting violations

If you believe someone is using BG Remove in violation of this AUP, please email abuse@bgremove.site with details. Please include the URL of the offending content if possible. We investigate all reports.

7. Enforcement

We reserve the right to block access, limit rate, or take other action against any user or IP address we believe is violating this policy. Enforcement decisions are made at our sole discretion.
