About BG Remove
BG Remove is a free online image toolkit built around a simple idea: removing backgrounds, compressing photos, resizing, cropping, and editing should not require a paid subscription, a software installation, or an account.
What we do
BG Remove provides twelve image tools that cover the most common photo editing tasks. The centerpiece is an AI background remover that cuts subjects out of photos in seconds. Around it, we've built browser-based tools that run entirely on your device — no upload, no waiting, no privacy risk.

Our principles
Privacy first
Most tools run entirely in your browser. The only tool that sends data to a server is the AI background remover, and even then we do not store your images after processing. We think "free online tool" should not mean "we get to keep your data forever".
Genuinely free
No paywall, no forced watermark, no "upgrade to download in HD". If we ever add premium features, the free tier will remain useful.
Fast and light
We don't ship heavy JavaScript frameworks or large third-party libraries. The entire site is static HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. It loads quickly on low-end mobile devices and over slow networks.
Honest
We only list tools that actually work. If something requires a server or specific conditions (for example, the transparent PNG maker only works well on solid backgrounds), we say so on the page. We don't claim to do things we can't do.
Accessible
Every tool is keyboard accessible, works on touch screens, respects reduced-motion preferences, and follows WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines where possible.
Technology
The frontend is built with semantic HTML5, modern CSS3, and vanilla JavaScript (ES6+). No React, Vue, Angular, or jQuery. The browser tools use the HTML5 Canvas API for local image manipulation. The AI background remover calls our secure processing API, which runs a trained neural network on our servers.
Who we are
BG Remove is a small, independent project. We are not a large company. We built this because we were frustrated with existing background removers that either require subscriptions, watermark your results, or store your images indefinitely. If you find the tools useful, we're happy.
