Yes. Every tool on the site — including the AI background remover and all browser-based tools — is free to use with no account, no credit card, and no watermark on your downloads. We do not have a paid tier at this time.

When you upload an image to the background remover, it is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our processing API. A trained neural network identifies the subject (person, product, animal, etc.) and calculates a foreground mask. The mask is applied and the image is returned to your browser as a transparent PNG. We do not store the uploaded or processed image after the response is delivered.

Only for the AI background remover. Every other tool — the image compressor, resizer, cropper, rotator, color picker, passport photo maker, profile picture maker, product photo editor, transparent PNG maker, watermark remover, and photo enhancer — processes images entirely within your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, and BMP are accepted. The background remover limits uploads to JPG, PNG, and WEBP for processing quality reasons. Output is usually PNG (for transparency) or JPG (for photos).

The AI background remover accepts up to 10 MB per image. Browser-based tools accept up to 25 MB, but very large images may exceed your device's memory and fail to load — in that case, try a smaller version.

Yes. All tools are fully responsive and touch-friendly. The upload zones accept files from your photo library or file manager. On low-end Android devices, the browser tools work best with images under 8 megapixels.

Yes. You own the images you upload and the images you download. BG Remove claims no rights to your content. See our Terms of Service for full details.

Yes. Our background remover API is documented at /api-docs.html. Contact partners@bgremove.site for access and rate limits.

You'll see a clear error message with a Retry button. If the problem persists, the API may be temporarily unavailable. Try again in a few minutes. All other tools will continue to work independently.

After the first page load, most browser-based tools will continue to work even without internet, because all processing happens locally. The AI background remover requires an active connection.

It depends. The AI model is trained primarily on photographic subjects. Logos with clean, uniform backgrounds sometimes work well. Logos with gradients, overlapping elements, or very fine detail may need manual cleanup. The transparent PNG maker is often a better choice for logos on solid backgrounds.

There is no daily limit for normal individual use. We do enforce reasonable rate limits to prevent abuse. Automated bulk use should use the API. See our Acceptable Use policy.

No. Background removal is stateless — the image is processed and returned, then discarded. Browser-based tools never send the image to a server at all.

Yes. The passport photo maker supports standard sizes for over 20 countries. However, always verify the exact requirements of your specific passport office before submitting — we cannot guarantee acceptance.

All modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, on desktop and mobile. Internet Explorer is not supported.
